Kate McGraw, 2^nd grade teacher at Torrey Hills School, was named 2012 DMUSD Reading Teacher of the Year for her skill and knowledge in teaching students about reading comprehension.  Kate’s explicit lessons convey to the students that reading is about making sense of what they read.  She teaches them how to approach books in a variety of ways and how to understand these books at a deeper level.  Kate incorporates her enthusiastic and energetic teaching style with a love of learning and respect for her students. Kate was recognized at the “Celebration of Stars” dinner on Friday, May 11^th, before family, friends and colleagues. Congratulations, Kate, on this well-deserved honor.
